we had the privilege to participate in the Annual Meeting with NGOs working in fisheries sector organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in Tanga region. During the meeting, the Ministry presented its 2025/2026 annual priorities, which were officially adopted by participating NGOs. Our Executive Director Festus, J Massaho had the opportunity to present the impactful work of Blue Victoria, showcasing our commitment to freshwater biodiversity and sustainable fisheries.
The meeting also included a field visit to learn from WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society). One highlight was seeing the modern fish drying racks they have built for local communities a smart solution to reduce post-harvest losses. Our ED was inspired and hopes to adapt this model in our ongoing mission to support women, youth and communities working in dagaa (silver cyprinid) fish processing across Lake Victoria.
